Howdy, Southwest Chapter Members!

Four years ago Alice Butler (you all know Alice!) sat down next to me at the Vegas Insights Conference and asked if I had ever thought of being on the Southwest Board. My answer was NO, I had not thought of that at all. And now, here I am four years later, having served as a Director-at-Large, VP, President-Elect, and now your 2019 Southwest Chapter President. How crazy is that! Be careful if you sit next to Alice…or me, as I have learned her tricks!

I’m really honored and thrilled to be part of such a great chapter doing amazing things for its members. I urge you to consider stepping up and taking a role with the chapter board. It could be either a formal role on the board or a volunteer role behind the scenes or at events. Think about it. I’m sure you have great ideas! If you are curious, let’s talk!

So who is Lisa Hazen? I’ve worked at the same company since I was a teenager. I have always been on the Operations side of Research. It’s been so wild seeing the industry change from punch cards and pulling sample from phone books to all that is powering the industry now. What will the next five years bring?! On the personal side of things, I have two adult children and one grandson. I am married to my husband of almost 29 years who patiently puts up with my love of reality TV. We have two Australian shepherds and enjoy trips to Fredericksburg (the Napa Valley of Texas), Broken Bow, OK, and of course the beach.

Chapter Happenings:

The Southwest Chapter qualified for 2018 Chapter of Year! Jeb Bullis is our Immediate Past President, so congrats to Jeb for this honor under his reign. As I write this, the winner has not been announced. (The announcement is scheduled for the end of March.) It’s an honor to have qualified, though. A lot of boxes have to be checked just to qualify to submit our chapter’s evidence and reasons to be considered chapter of the year.

The 33rd Annual Vegas Insights Conference just concluded. If you joined us, we hope you had a great time and benefited from both the networking and content. If you were not able to join us, we are planning the 2020 Vegas Conference now, so watch for more information. Dates and venue soon to be selected. Thank you again to the many sponsors, speakers and attendees for making the 2019 event a success. We can’t do it without you!

Our annual Educational Forum will be held in Phoenix on August 7th and 8th at the Arizona Biltmore, a Waldorf Astoria Resort. (They have plenty of excellent air conditioning there!) Planning for this event is gearing up, so consider attending and sponsoring. You don’t want to miss it!
