Las Vegas Event – Student Recap

Getting the opportunity to attend the Insights Conference in Las Vegas was a great way to take a break from the normal classroom environment and engage with professionals in the marketing research industry. I was able to listen to a diverse group of speakers and network with individuals who worked at research suppliers, sampling firms, and even software companies. As someone who is new to the industry, I found every part of the conference to be a learning experience. During networking events, I received invaluable career advice from professionals who had decades of experience. Each presentation was very insightful, and my favorite was Anne Coulters about Ontario Egg Farmers. She discussed how she used psychoanalytics, Bayesian choice-based segmentation, and ethnographies to resolve her client’s issue in an easy to follow slide deck. I am honored to have represented the MSMR program at UT Arlington and hope to attend future conferences.

The Las Vegas Insights Conference makes it very clear that the Insights Association invests and takes pride in their Marketing Research (MR) professionals, no matter your background or tenure. It was an honor to step into the tight-knit community to experience different MR layers: like how to efficiently implement research, encourage creative and practical methodologies, and the importance of strong leadership and organization. The speakers and attendees are brilliant and welcoming, with no hesitation to share their experiences and recommendations on how to improve point of view and forward-thinking. There is an incredible amount of valuable learning and networking in this small timeframe – I completely understand why members return each year. It’s truly a time to spark, grow, and refresh the ever-evolving MR world.
Thank you to the University of Texas at Arlington and Brunswick Group for this opportunity. I hope many students in future will be able to attend themselves and I am also hopeful I will attend again in years to come with my own insights to share.
