The Southwest Chapter was awarded a $1000 grant in support of our “Future Researchers” program

In Q1 2018, the Southwest Chapter received a grant in support of their “Future Researchers” program, with a focus on increasing the participation and engagement of new Master of Science in Marketing Research (MSMR) college students from the University of Texas Arlington College of Business with the Insights Association.

This grant was used to fund five members of the University of Texas Arlington Masters of Marketing program in joining the Southwest Chapter at their conferences at no cost and to promote their involvement in other aspects of the Chapter’s operations. The 2018 events in which the students participated included the April Las Vegas Conference and the August Educational Forum.
Additional highlights included:

• Their participation granted the students access to business leaders and researchers which allowed them to learn more about the Insights industry.
• Southwest Board members made concentrated efforts to do personal introductions and include the students in networking conversations.
• Each student was introduced in front of the entire conference audience and the Chapter encouraged the audience to interact and welcome them.
• Each student volunteered with Board Committees to help with attendee registration, marketing, charity raffles and other logistics.
• At each function, a student prepared and provided a conference report from their view which were published in our quarterly newsletter, The Cactus Call.

Due to its success in 2018, Chapter intends to continue this program and expand their relationship with the UTA MSMR program in 2019. This year, two students from UTA attended the Las Vegas conference which was held in late February and there are already plans underway for the Educational Forum which will take place this summer.

In support of the continuation and expansion of this program into 2019, the Southwest Chapter received a grant of $1,000. The funds awarded will be used by the Chapter to help offset expenses related to maintenance and expansion of program.
