At a time when the latest business trends are focused around harnessing big data, analytics, data science and fact-based decision making, it is in stark contrast that there are still many organizations that operate without a defined Insight discipline. But this continues to change as more and more companies are either starting or re-defining their departments, which will lead to more researchers finding themselves with an opportunity to establish their own Insight function. Mara has had the opportunity to start two client-side Insight departments and will share some thoughts and considerations for taking on this task.

Mara is a Director with the Brunswick Group. Mara has over 15 years of market research, communications, and branding experience across a wide range of sectors. She has conducted branding studies, narrative development research, and message testing for major brands including Southwest Airlines, Las Vegas Sands Corp. (LVS), Marlboro, Home Shopping Network and The Getty Museum.

As the former Global Head of Research and Brand Strategy at LVS, she served as an internal advisor to global marketing, corporate communications, and development. She played an integral role in establishing the brand guidelines for all LVS integrated resort properties across the U.S. and Asia. She led the research
efforts to integrate investor feedback into ongoing communication initiatives.
